"Oh my god"......I've said that phrase so many times over the last few days you'd think I had found religion. The past three days we've spent walking around Paris and sampling, i mean sampling, the scenes and sights of this amazing city. You think you've seen it all and you round a corner to another unbelievable view of human endeavour. Just today we went to the Louvre, got there around 9 am to get in a line that wasn't kilometres long. I tried to surreptitiously jump ahead of a group of teens but the teacher wouldn't have a bar of it. Bad sport.

Many of you have been to the Louvre so you know what I'm talking about. Again, it's awe inspiring and we walked through Napoleon's hang out which is the epitome of ostentation. We were allowed to take photos in the Louvre but not in the Musee Dorsay. Tim managed to sneak a few. Of course they can't portray the true wonder of it all.

I have never walked so much in my life. We have walked all over North side of the Seine and last night we walked down to south Paris for the soiree we were attending. It is held by an old beat generation guy named Jim. Another expat yank, he has been holding these things every Sunday for about 30 years. We found out about it in an article in the Herald travel section. We actually met one of the characters mentioned. She is a Romanian/French woman who plays piano for performers. It was an interesting occasion, with everyone encouraged to talk to someone new.

There are quite a lot of beggars and scammers. We were caught yesterday by two young girls who come up to you with a petition to sign, supporting deaf children ???? You write your name down then realise you are committing to a pledge, they got 10 euro from us...... oh well. Walking near the Dorsay, Tim spotted a gold ring on the pavement. He picked it up, like you do, and immediately a young man comes over and says something about 'well done, give it to your lady' and walks away. He soon turns back and asks for money. Tim refused the ring the whole time. Most scams are obvious.

I am just gob-smacked by everything we've seen here, I can't remember it all. I'll just put up pics.

  1. That glass pyramid was in the process ofbeing built when we were there 20 yrs ago. It seemed so out of place. What makes the poor doggie a Nazi? I remember the walking and the tired legs but there is no other way is there? Some patisserie????? Has it occurred to you that some people may not like blogging as others dont like talking on the 'phone?? I'm silly enough to like it all.Jet is snoring at my feet and Allie and Reg are in the garage ..will take them home soon.
